A simple eye making tip for beginners.

If you use glass eyes that have a steel pin in them, then you already know how easy it is to use them. All you need to do is choose the position, poke two holes with an awl, add some glue to the pins and in the eyes go. 👌

It’s a cute, kawaii-style look.

BUT!

If you’d like to make the eyes look a bit more natural, try the following:

  1. 1
choose the position of the eyes
  2. 2
make those holes with your awl
  3. 3
create eye sockets before you glue the eyes in place!
  4. 4
when the lower half of the round glass globes are sunk in and look good, glue them in.

Creating eye sockets is fun and easy! Even if your sculpture is firm(er) you can easily do it. Simply create two half-dome-shaped indentations that has the diameter of your round glass eyes.

I like checking the depth of the eye sockets more than once and go slowly to make sure that I don’t create too deep ones.

As a bonus, creating eye sockets helps you create the bridge of the nose as well! 👃🏻
