Problem: you need an affordable multi-purpose felting mat

My suggestion to that dilemma is an uncommon one.

If you need an affordable multi-purpose felting mat/pad - that’s also eco-friendly - try a 100% wool ironing mat!

These ironing mats come in many sizes, usually made of 100% New Zealand wool and firm. They can also be cut into smaller pieces and, thus, they are also stackable.

Here are my reasons for suggesting them (after having used them for about 2 years now):

This one mat can be used for all kinds of felting that you can think of: 2D pictures, 3D and flat shapes. This makes it affordable (no need to buy different types of mats) and practical (saves space).
The wool you’re felting doesn’t stick to it more than it would to a foam mat.
It lasts for a long time.
It’s biodegradable - no worries about buying more plastic.
Plus it comes in really big sizes (bigger than the big one I show in the video) which is handy if you like felting bigger 2D pictures.
